কোলকাতার নকশি-কথা (Kolkatar Nokshi Kotha)

২/১বি কপালীটোলা লেন, কোলকাতা - ৭০০ ০১২ ঠিকানায় একটা ছোট লাইব্রেরী দেখা যায়, যার নাম কপালী বান্ধব লাইব্রেরী (প্রতিষ্ঠা ১৯২১ খ্রিস্টাব্দ)। এই লাইব্রেরীর প্রতিষ্ঠাতা ছিলেন স্বর্গীয় কেদারনাথ দাস (জন্ম অক্টোবর ১৯০১, মৃত্যু ১৯শে জুলাই ১৯৮১)।

স্বর্গীয় মহিন্দ্র নাথ সাধুখাঁর পরম ইচ্ছা ও নির্দেশ অনুসারে, ওনার কন্যা ট্রাস্টি ও সেবাইতা বাগবাজার নিবাসী স্বর্গীয় গৌর মোহন সাধুখাঁর পত্নী শ্রীমতী গৌরী দাসী কর্তৃক প্রতিষ্ঠিত মন্দির এটি। মন্দিরের প্রতিষ্ঠা হয়েছিল ১৯১৫ খ্রিষ্টাব্দের ২৬শে জুলাই। মন্দিরটি এদের পরিবারের ব্যক্তিগত মন্দির। তবে একটা গোটা বাড়ির মধ্যে হবার কারণে, এখানে শুধু কয়েকঘর ভাড়াটে ও পুরোহিতের পরিবার থাকেন। হটাৎ করেই একদিন কলুটোলা স্ট্রিটে এই মন্দিরটা খুঁজে পাই। বাড়ির মধ্যে রাধা-গোবিন্দ মন্দিরটি দোতলায়। একতলায় আছে শ্রী শ্রী বাসন্তীদেবী ও শ্রী শ্রী জগদ্ধাত্রী দেবীর পূজা মণ্ডপ, যার শেষ সংস্কার করা হয়েছিল ২৮শে অক্টোবর ১৯৩২ সালে। পূজামন্ডপে কারুকার্য বিশেষভাবে উল্লেখযোগ্য। সাথে টাইলসের ময়ূরের ছবি এবং দরজা-জানালার কারুকার্যও দেখার মতো। দোতলায় যেখানে রাধা-গোবিন্দ প্রতিষ্ঠিত, সেই ঘরের মধ্যে ঝুলন্ত বারান্দা রয়েছে। পুরোহিত বললেন যে আগে পুজোর ভিড়ের সময় বাড়ির মহিলারা ওই ঝুলবারান্দা দিয়ে দে

This sizable synagogue, albeit still fitted and maintained, is no longer a fully-functioning house of prayer due to the diminished local Jewish population.  The building is now under the custodianship of the governmental Archeological Survey of India (ASI).    Synagogue caretakers are regularly on duty to receive guests during the week at regular hours, so a visit should be straightforward and easy. Completed in 1856, this synagogue in central Kolkata at 26, Pollock Street off Brabourne Road, with shops and residences alongside, has served the city’s Beth El (Hebrew for House of God) Baghdadi congregation for more than one and one-half centuries. Its construction was made possible with funding from David Joseph Ezra and Ezekiel Judah, two local Baghdadi Jews. Unlike the two other extant synagogues in Kolkata, Magen David next door and Beth El a short distance way that are now under the custodianship of the governmental Archeological Survey of India (ASI), Neveh Shalome is still Jewish-owned.  ASI staff directly next door at Magen David is regularly on duty, to also receive guests at Neveh Shalome during the week at regular hours, so a visit should be straightforward and easy. Neveh Shalome (Hebrew for Oasis of Peace), organized in the mid-1820s, was the first congregation of Baghdadi Jews who had settled permanently in India during the early years of the nineteenth century. These community members had come mostly from Iraq, but some also originated in Iran and from places within the Ottoman Empire.

করোনা সংক্রমণের আতঙ্ক কাটিয়ে স্বাভাবিক হচ্ছে জাতীয় গ্রন্থাগারের (National Library) কাজকর্ম। কিছু দিন আগেই পাঠকদের জন্য খুলে দেওয়া হয়েছে গ্রন্থাগারের দরজা। এ বার জোড়া ভ্যাকসিনেশনের শংসাপত্রকে ছাড়পত্র হিসেবে বিবেচনা করে উৎসাহীদের জন্য ৮ই নভেম্বর ২০২১ সোমবার থেকে গ্রন্থাগারের বেলভিডিয়র হাউসে চালু হলো ইন্টারন্যাশনাল রেয়ার লিথোগ্রাফিক আর্ট এগজিবিশন।  পাথর বা ধাতুর পাতে খোদাই করা অক্ষর বা ছবি। তাতেই কালি লাগিয়ে ছাপ তোলার ব্যবস্থা। শিল্পের জগতে এই ধরনের কাজ পরিচিত লিথোগ্রাফি নামে। এমন লিথোগ্রাফির দেড়শো ছবির সমাহারে আজ থেকে একমাসের জন্য বিশেষ প্রদর্শনী শুরু হতে চলেছে জাতীয় গ্রন্থাগারে।  এখানকার দুষ্প্রাপ্য গ্রন্থের সংগ্রহ, রেয়ার বুক সেকশন এবং আশুতোষ সংগ্রহে রয়েছে বেশ কয়েকটি অত্যন্ত দুর্লভ লিথোগ্রাফি। ১৮৩০ থেকে ১৮৬০ সালের মধ্যে তৈরি বিশেষ এই শিল্পের মধ্যে নির্বাচিত বেশ কয়েকটি দেখার সুযোগ পাবেন উৎসাহীরা।  সকাল ১০টা থেকে বিকেল ৫টা পর্যন্ত এই প্রদর্শনী দেখার সুযোগ পাবেন উৎসাহীরা। এই প্রদর্শনী চলবে ৭ ফেব্রুয়ারি পর্যন্ত। তবে, এই প্রদর্
