The Firelight : An Unique Experience

Image
Artist Narayan Chandra Sinha's solo show 'Firelight' brings together a rigorous practice installed in situ in a old colonial building. It is defined by a deep-seated desire to express... One that is burnt to express, One that is burnt to ashes in it's own light.  Like Firelight which is trapped in the dichotomy of burning everything around it, Sinha's solo inhabits the space like the embers of a fire that continue to burn long after it seems to have been put out.   The exhibition is Open to All everyday between 4.00 PM to 7.30 PM. It is situated at 12 Queen's Park (Behind Birla Mandir, Ballygaunge Kolkata), on the same lane as G. D. Birla Sabhaghar. The main gate is covered by navy blue fiber sheet. The building of the permanent exhibition has a strong presence of european architecture. From the P.M. Bagchi's Kolkata Street Directory of 1915, it can be found that the building was registered in the names of G. Hallmann, A. Richter and P. Tieferrmann. Curren
